Last July, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Art Weekend (KCAW) took place for the first time. A juicy programme of 70 events at 61 independent galleries, local businesses and key cultural institutions, it drew fans from across London (we’re told Hackneyites were the biggest visitors). Now organisers are keen to set the wheels in motion for KCAW 2019.

Plans for the second edition include public art installations, an art bus tour snaking around Portobello, King’s Road, High Street Kensington and Chelsea, a late-night gallery trail and walking tours. There’ll be workshops in the run-up and during the festival, plus awards for local unsung heroes and a foodie street jam. It’s basically going Frieze Week-meets-Art Night by way of the SW (and W8) postcodes.

But in order to make all this arty joy available to the public free of charge, KCAW needs 100 people to have signed up on its SpaceHive page by this Thursday. That puts them in the running for a £50,000 grant from Mayor of London, hacking a hefty chunk off their £64,390 fundraising target. Forgo your morning coffee and pledge now to help the borough show its true colours next summer.

Make sure to sign up: KCAW Spacehive
