After last year’s hiatus, Kensington + Chelsea Art Week is back and bigger than ever. The much-loved week of art, music and culture is expanding throughout the summer in a festival format of shared experiences, public art and live performance – the Kensington + Chelsea Summer Festival.


Spanning three months, from 21 June to 31 August, organisers aim to “set a new standard as a visionary international arts event in London, actively engaging both local communities and global audiences.”


So, what can we expect? Variety, for sure. The festival mix spans visual art, a diverse Public Art Trail, design, theatre, dance, music, family shows, cabaret, comedy, spoken word and street food As you wander through the myriad entertainment on offer, expect to find ballet and street art, orchestras, celebrations of both circus arts and gaming culture, plus plenty of exhibitions and workshops cropping up around the borough in both well-known and unexpected places.


This year’s curatorial theme is ‘Reimagine’ – set to challenge the way we think about the purpose and function of public spaces, from places to pass through to places to dwell, play and dream.


So what can you expect? The diverse programme is still evolving, with the final schedule being released very soon however, British artist Lauren Baker will be showcasing her poetic light typography across the neighbourhood, from King’s Road to Sloane Street, inspiring visitors with quotes from notable local icons such as Vivienne Westwood, The Beatles and Oscar Wilde.


And, throughout July and August expect pop-up performances across the area adding to the much-loved Chelsea atmosphere, inspiring and delighting visitors throughout their weekends.
