Taught by both Walker Evans and Minor White, two photographic masters, Baldwin Lee spent his free time in the mid-to-late 80s documenting Black communities in America's southern states.
During this period Lee created an extraordinary body of work, having produced 10,000 monochrome 5 x 4”negatives. These images are only now being seen by the world. In the words of the New York Times, ‘Baldwin Lee is one of those artists who teach us to see’
