KCAW x Chelsea Windows
Zone 8 - Old Chelsea + World's End
24 June - 4 July 2021
Once again and back by popular demand, KCAW is collaborating with local artists and creative studios to activate store windows along the iconic King’s Road and Fulham Road, through a series of exhibitions and imaginative interventions.
Participating stores are displaying works by local artists during KCAW21, carefully curated by KCAW Advisory Board Member Caroline Boseley.
The high street has long been an inspiration and hub for creatives. The King‘s Road has been connected to designers such as Mary Quant, Vivienne Westwood; musicians Malcolm McLaren and Led Zeppelin. It was the residence of celebrated actors and artists; and is home to many innovative institutions.
Inspired by the area, drawing on its cultural legacy, our aim is to showcase artists’ practices and engage visitors to the High Street, in a visual celebration of culture and creativity, turning retail spaces into pop-up contemporary art galleries.
The project supports the KCAW21 Charity Partner, Kensington + Chelsea Foundation, by giving the public the opportunity to purchase prints by participating artists.
KCAW x Chelsea Windows and King’s Road Curve Public Art installation are supported by Sloane Stanley.
