Jennifer Packer: The Eye Is Not Satisfied With Seeing
Serpentine presents two major exhibitions including a new retrospective for British-Ghanaian photographer James Barnor, and the 5 star show from New-York based painter Jennifer Packer. The 20th Serpentine Pavilion designed by Johannesburg-based practice Counterspace will also be open to visitors.
This exhibition, the artist’s first outside of the US, includes paintings and drawings from the past decade alongside recent work.
Combining observation, improvisation and memory, Packer’s intimate portraits of friends and family members and flower still paintings insist on the emotional and physical essence of the contemporary Black lives she depicts.
"I cannot recommend this exhibition highly enough" – ★★★★★ Will Gompertz, BBC Arts
