As part of KCAW X Chelsea Windows, Day True features work by acclaimed London based contemporary artist, Juliette Losq. Using ink and watercolour to create exquisitely realistic studies of the ‘borderlands on the fringes of urban development’, Losq’s work is ephemeral and intricate, hauntingly capturing the benign battles waged between man and nature. Her paintings and drawings as well as large scale works and installations, include imagery from diverse interests, which she fuses with her own photographs, taken during explorations of overgrown and forgotten places.
Juliette Losq studied Fine Art at the University of the Arts London (2004- 2007) and the Royal Academy Schools as well as studying English and History of Art at Newnham College, Cambridge and History of Art at the Courtauld Institute, London. Losq won the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2005, was one of five shortlisted artists for the John Moores Prize in 2014, receiving the Visitor’s Choice Award, and received the John Ruskin Prize in 2019. She was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 2020.
Losq’s drawings are ‘composed of fragments from all these realities, that transport the viewer to the border between the urban world and the wilderness’ (Interalia Magazine March 2019)
Day True was founded in 2013 by designers and Tony and Hayley Robson combining their extensive experience in the kitchen and bathroom world, pushing the boundaries in design and product sourcing, to provide their customers with a unique experience.
