Tue-Sun | 11am-6pm
The first UK solo exhibition of artist Heba Y. Amin presents three multimedia works. All stem from real life subjects, through them Amin investigates how the narratives of regional politics in the Middle East relate to global concerns.
In Project Speak2Tweet phone messages left by protesters when the internet was shut down in the Egyptian uprising of 2011 form the soundtrack to this installation. The General’s Stork takes the story of a bird arrested for spying, to look at the politics of aerial surveillance. In Operation Sunken Sea the artist acting as dictator proposes to ‘solve’ the migrant crisis by draining the Mediterranean Sea.
A free programme of events accompanies the exhibition
The exhibition is curated by Anthony Downey.
