WERNER BISCHOF – USA

UNTIL 26 JULY

ZONE 1 – NORTH KENSINGTON

David Hill Gallery

Featuring 25 photographs by reknowned Magnum photographer Werner Bischof, his experimentation with colour and movement interweaves the tender intimacies of daily life with striking 1950s street scenes. Cars blur past lone, shadowy figures, rain splatters the sidewalks, the multicoloured lights of Broadway glimmer in a vivid haze.

David Hill Gallery shows both established and lesser-known 20th century and contemporary photographers, specialising in previously unseen work. Exhibitions have included the first solo show of Burt Glinn's coverage of the Cuban Revolution and the first solo show outside of Africa of Sanlé Sory's work from Burkina Faso. Mario Carnicelli’s sharply observed mid-1960s American street photography was also first shown at the gallery, and Hunter Barnes' extraordinary Off The Strip, a document of the fading Las Vegas of yesteryear.
