AMANDA PARER STUDIO: LOST
28 JUNE – 4 JULY
ZONE 6 – SLOANE SQ + KING'S RD
As part of its Public Art Trail and annual Sloane Sq commission, KCAW19 presents the world–premier of LOST: BOTANICAL TREASURES SO EASILY LOST AND FORGOTTEN, by Amanda Parer Studio. The monumental flowers and flora featured in this work are extinct and endangered species from the seven continents of the world. They are delicately coloured, illuminated and vibrant, highlighting the beauty and wonder that has or will be lost.
Living in the 21st century demands living lives where most of our social experience and values arrive to us digitally at break-neck speed. Inspired by the dramatic Tasmanian landscape, Parer’s artwork aims to explore the natural world, its fragility and the role of humanity within it. When the audience visits one of these ephemeral art installations they are enticed by the play of scale, light, dark, drama, and humour. The giants of Parer Studio’s creations stand enlarged, stimulating imaginations while offering scope for reflection about our state with the natural world. Supported by Cadogan.
